In my opinion, I think that this magazine would appeal to the target audience who are the high school students of the british international school Kuala Lumpur and their age would range between 16 to 19 (teenage years) as they are AS and A level students, both gender are the target audience as it's a coeducation school.
Firstly, my magazine’s front cover colour is very bright and eye catching. I feel that older people usually prefer dull and numb colours but as a teenager, they would like to see very bright colours and that's why my magazine's main colour scheme is very light red and blue which immediately catches your attention, also because it would stand out from the other magazines in the shelf.
Secondly, the layout of this cover is quite simple and I think it follows the rules of how a magazine should be. There’s a high title on the top which says the name of the magazine and in this case its “bskl magazine”. Then it has all these cover lines on both sides which defines what actually is inside the magazine and what people can know or see about. Some include questions with a simple answer and some just has a topic heading, lots of rhetorical questions are also asked to make it more appealing. Overall, I think its a neat layout whcih is easily readable and understandable.
Thirdly, the main image Ive used is a picture of a student who is the same age group as the target audience since it would appeal to the viewer/reader more… It fills almost the entire page so that it can be easily visible even from a far distance. In the image, the model is wearing a red dress which is again contrasting to the background and is matching to the bright red colours used, in the image, you can see the girl holding a psychology textbook, I realised that many students have taken psychology in this school so to attract them even further, I made the model hold a psychology textbook which is directly facing the reader and the contents or the writing in the book is easily visible.
Fourthly, speaking about the border, I realised that having a frame would be nice and so I added a double frame in colours of red as well as blue which is the most commonly used colours in my magazine cover. Also, Ive made sure that my border does not cover any contents on the page itself.
Fifthly, the font Ive used is something many people wanted : bold, in capital and as well as easy to understand. I do honestly think that the font goes very well with the cover, colour scheme as well as the image.
Sixthly, a bar code is placed on the bottom side of the page and this is to give this magazine a look of an actual magazine. This obviously shows that this is a paid magazine and people have to purchase it in order to see the contents inside.
It was kind of hard using photoshop since I have never ever used it before, however it was fun to learn and I would like to continue working on it to develop my future projects.
Overall, I think this magazine will be suitable for teenage students of this school.
